Any country is known by its people. Based on people’s behavior one make judgement.
Recently Government has tried to achieve two goals through laws and policy.
1. Open defecation free country
2. Safety of people through motor vehicle amendment.
On 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, our honourable prime minister announced India as open defecation free country. Our government claims that they built 110 crores toilets for us. No doubt they have made it through many applying stick policy like at some places their rations were stopped if they do not build toilets. However government could not regulate behaviour of people to use toilets. There are many old people who still defecates openly because they do not want to change themselves.
On the second goal, government have forced people to follow traffic rules but this has not stopped people ignoring traffic rules where proper traffic administration is still a dream.
People should change their way of seeing these policies. These policies are made for betterment of people which will lead to enhance human capital and that would lead to economic development. How government can change this behaviour? May be they need to spread more awareness of benefits of these policies. It would be fantastic if government can qoute practical example of effects of not following these policies.
